I would argue that a $40 Blue Snowball, couple with $15 Neewer mounting arm, and $200 headphones (Maybe Sennheiser, AKG, Audio Technica, or V-Moda) will produce both much better recordings, and better sound expereince. Often the sound quality produced by the headphones sound "midrange" even at premium tier prices. You also can't turn your head away from the microphone if you cough or sneeze. Taking off your headphones, scratching your own face, produces weird noises. Often not having many settings for removing background noise going into the mic as well. The sound quality on many gaming headsets is often hissy/hummy, muffled, or too loud/quiet. If one part of your headset breaks, you need a new headset. Gaming headset serves two purposes, it produces and receives sound. I also think gaming headsets aren't the best deal around.

I've heard some dang decent recordings from these.įrom the stance of deals, I think buying a dedicated microphone is wise.
